Challenge no. 120 Jan, 2019 Blog
Here at AoC, we aim to create a world that is fair, equal and sustainable. As part of that mission, we have developed The World Changer Challenge; a weekly challenge inspiring a small day-to-day change with a big impact on the world.
Today, we are delighted to share the first World-Changer Challenge…
Pick up one piece of litter
It’s a sad fact that it’s rare to walk along our streets without seeing a piece of litter, a recent survey by Keep Britain Tidy found a stark increase in litter since 2014, with the top three most-littered items being smoking related litter, confectionery packs and soft drink bottles and cans.
We want to do something about it, and empower ourselves to make a positive change this week. Picking up rubbish is something that will take only a few minutes of your time and can be done in a fun way – for example, as part of a family walk.
Last year we sold over 4,000 calendars – and if each of us pick up a pieces of litter this week, together we will make a huge difference to our communities and local wildlife. So grab your friends, family and colleagues, and let’s see what differences we can make. Are you up to the challenge?
Let us know how you get on using the hashtag #OpenUpToChange on social media or by writing in. We’d also love to hear any ideas for the next World-Changer Challenge!
What a response! Lots of you took to your local streets and parks to complete our inaugural challenge of picking up one piece of litter. Not only this – many of you didn’t stop at one piece of litter, and helped to clean up your local area. Who knew it could be so addictive?
